Henry served his country proudly; he was a Marine Corps First Division Recon Vietnam Vet; as well as a Purple Heart Recipient and a Qualified Sharpshooter. Henry enjoyed spending time with his Vietnam Recon buddies.The tight bond of these men was evident when several of these buddies visited Henry when he was in the hospital and hospice. He attended several Vietnam re-unions around the country and enjoyed spending time at the local VFW chapter as well.

Henry was an avid hunter, and loved sharing this hobby with his family. He was also passionate about muscle cars and loved driving them. But most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends and was considered a loving husband, father and a caring grandpa.
Henry will be united in heaven by his parents; and brother Jerry G. Covarrubias.
Henry’s memory will forever live in the hearts of his loved one's; Wife Amy V. Covarrubias; daughter Victoria Covarrubias Suárez (Gabriel); Cynthia Tylock (Gary), Margie Garcia (Frank); Ray Valdez (Susan); Grandchildren Ambrosia, Henry, Zachary, and Jessie; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family thanks all of the nurses and doctors at the Audie Murphy VA Medical Center as well as The CLC Hospice facility for their support and care.
Henry will be missed by those who knew him.
A visitation for Henry will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A rosary will occur Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, TX 78201. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 1:15 PM to 1:35 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209.
