Hazel Virginia Cabaniss went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2022. Our mother was a beautiful, loving mom, grandmother, and great grandmother, she never met a stranger and would do anything to help another person. She loved being around people and that's why she did her job so well as a bar owner and bartender which she continued to do until the age of 82. In her spare time, she loved working in her garden and spending time with all her grandkids. So many people loved and respected her, she will be missed by many. Hazel was born to Jesse and Berie Parton on September 17, 1931 in Spartanburg, SC.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Henry Cabaniss, son Grady Lee Cabaniss, brother Herbert Parton, sisters Mary Campbell and Louise Blair. She is survived by her son Darreyl Cabaniss and wife Vickie, daughter Kathy Bonds and husband Boen Swinney, grandson Jesse Maudlin Vaughan and wife Loni, granddaughter Jenny Maudlin and husband Shane, grandson James R Bonds and fiancee Sabra Hale, Aaron Cabaniss and wife Jamie.
Hazel was cared for at home the last couple of months by family and close friends. You could always find one of her great grandkids up in her bed with her watching TV. Thank you Jesse Vaughan (Turtle) Christopher, Caylee, Lexie, Rylee Pina for all your help and making Hazel's last days so much fun for her. Hazel had 4 grandkids, 10 great grandkids, 3 great great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Hazel's nephew Van Parton and his wife Beverly for all the emotional support and guidance through this very difficult time; and from the bottom of Kathy and Darreyls' heart, we would like to say a huge thank you to the anonymous person that called the funeral home and paid the remaining balance on the funeral expenses, there are no words to express our gratitude God bless you.
The viewing for Hazel will be Tuesday, August 23rd from 5-6 for family, and 6-9 for her friends and funeral services will be Wednesday, August 24th at 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.
