He is preceded in death by his father Oscar Cortez.
He is survived by mother Yolanda A. Cortez; Sister Carolyn; brothers Oscar, Thomas, Richard, and Jon Mark.
He graduated from O.W. Holmes High School in 1973. Join the Navy in 1975, served 4 years. As a P.O.3. He retired from Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital working in the dispensary for 26 years.
Guadalupe was known to his family, friends, and the neighborhood as Wally. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and his San Antonio Spurs. He will be deeply missed.
Public Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral home on Wednesday, March, 8th at 6:00 PM, with Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Dominic's Catholic Church on Thursday, March, 9th at 12:00 PM Noon.
A Military funeral service will be held on March 9th, 2023 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Shelter #1 following Mass.
