He was dedicated to his family and willing to serve others. Gregorio loved barbecuing and hosting New Year’s Eve at his home. Active in the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Velas at St. Timothy Catholic Church, his devotion to God and Our Lady was an inspiration. Gregorio was self-employed as a house painter before retiring to be a caretaker for his wife. Affectionately known as Popo, he will be greatly missed and live in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rosalio and Margarita Chavez, son Albert Chavez, son-in-law, Dan Martinez, daughters-in-law, Melinda Chavez and Roseann Chavez and his 9 siblings, Antonia, Mary, Raymond, Robert, Rosalio, Tony, Phillip, Albert and Alfonso.
Gregorio is survived by his children, Margaret Munoz (David), Grace Martinez, Greg Chavez (Maria), Richard Chavez, Norma Conaway, Louis Chavez (Maria), and Marc Abrams (Stephanie), twenty-three grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on September 25, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Mass will be held on September 26, 2023, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, at 10:00 a.m., and burial at San Fernando #2.
