With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Martinez, who was taken from us too soon on December 24th, 2024, after 73 beautifully lived years. She brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart, lighthearted demeanor, and the infinite amount of love she had to share. Grammy, as she was affectionately known, was loved by all who met her and had the privilege of knowing her. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose life centered around her beloved family that she cared for with all her heart. Gloria was known to fill the room with laughter, would lend the best listening ear, and was the true embodiment of unconditional love.
Gloria was born in San Antonio, TX, on August 12th, 1951, to Jesse and Isabel Van Raub and had 4 siblings, survived by Maria Diaz of California, whom she loved and held very near and dear to her heart. Gloria was married to Tony Martinez for over 50 years and their love was a true testament to what a loving relationship aspires to be. Together Tony and Gloria had their one and only son, Anthony Martinez, whom she loved and adored with every fiber of her being. Her one and only granddaughter, Savannah Martinez, cherished the love, kindness, and wisdom her grandmother instilled upon her and felt truly blessed to be a part of her life.
Gloria enjoyed watching her favorite shows, listening to music, and spending time with her family as often as possible. She truly was the funniest, sassiest, greatest woman ever and if there was ever some juicy gossip to be shared, she was the go-to person for it. Our little Grammy was the best at roasting people and could make you laugh so hard you would cry. Her heart and soul were pure, and light and man oh man, were we lucky to have her.
Although Gloria’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. The memories she leaves behind are truly a blessing, and we will honor her and carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. God gained the best angel in heaven, and we know she will watch over and protect us always. We love you our little Grammy Gloria, the world will never shine quite as bright without you.
At this time, we will not be having a funeral or service. At a later date the family will be getting together to spread her ashes, at her request, where her parents are buried. For any further questions about a date and time of the ash spreading ceremony please reach out to immediate family and may Gloria rest in peace.
