March 18th, 1949 – April 28th, 2020
Glenda L. Martinez was born on March 18, 1949 to Servando and Hilda Lopez. She spent most of her life in Alice, Tx until she moved to San Antonio where she resided with her husband Roberto Martinez, until her passing. She lived a life of service to others was shown in her everyday life, faith, and career. It was instilled in here at an early age and it was a belief that she openly shared and taught to her family in others. Her faith laid the foundation for this belief, her love of family and friends led her to live it all the days of her life.
Her Faith led her to serve as a member at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Tx and Saint Bridgid Catholic Church in San Antonio, Tx as CCD instructor, leader of the youth group, PTA officer and member of the Catholic Ladies Society.
Her love of her community and fellow man led her to serve in a career of service. She started at an early age during her teenage years in retail, followed by Case management for the State of Texas, and Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Alice until she began her career in the United States Postal Service where she held various positions until her retirement as a Master Trainer and Supervisor.
Her greatest love of service came in the love and service of her entire family because they meant so much to her. She always wanted things to be perfect when it came to others and would sacrifice to make it so. The love and laughter of children were her greatest rewards and filled her heart. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride, and her husband, Roberto, her greatest love.
Glenda is the loving wife for 49 years to Roberto P. Martinez; daughter of Hilda and the late Servando Lopez; daughter to the late Amando and Lydia Martinez; proud mother to Elana M.
