Gilberto Rodriguez, 86 of San Antonio, TX was born on April 10, 1927, and passed away April 10, 2013. He was born to the late Baltazar and Maria Socorro Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esperanza Rodriguez; brother, Baltazar Rodriguez and granddaughter, Sierra Sanchez. He is survived by his 5 children and their spouses, Gilbert Rodriguez, Gerard Rodriguez, Anna and Edward Jimenez, Maria and Ramon Sanchez, and Edward Rodriguez; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; also, brother, Fernando; sisters, Sylvia, Graciela,Leticia and several nieces and nephews.
He attended Fox Tech High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in World War II, the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Esperanza Chavira and lived in San Antonio where he worked at Kelly Air Force Base until his retirement. He loved studying the genealogy of his family and did much research in recent years. He loved his family and ensured that all were safe.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart from the funeral home on Thursday April 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. John Berchmans’ Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No.3.
