Gilbert Solis was called home to be with The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 29, 2012 at the blessed age of 64. Gilbert was a devoted husband to his cherished wife Norma Solis. He was born the 6th of 12 children in San Antonio, Texas to Ramon and Guadalupe Solis. Gilbert was a graduate of Edgewood High School Class of 1968, former member of Half Ton Haulers, South Texas Truckers, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Gilbert proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and will be buried with full military honors. In Gilbert’s civilian career he spent 29 years of employment with VIA Transit. Norma would like to sincerely extend her heartfelt gratitude to Gilbert’s doctors and the staff at 8 South Oncology Department at Methodist Hospital for their support and wonderful care. Gilbert was a dedicated and loving husband who will be eternally missed and remembered in our hearts.
SERVICES: The family will receive visitors from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday, May 7, 2012 with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home at 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, Texas. Funeral procession departs at 9:30am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from Sunset Northwest for a 10:00am mass at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas followed by interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made in his honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
