Gilbert Najera, age 70, passed away March 20, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 4, 1949 to Raymond and Genevieve Najera. Gilbert was a Vietnam veteran, and received a Purple Heart , Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Combat Infantryman's Badge. Gilbert was also a member of the Military Service Detachment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Alma Najera; who he met in December of 2017 in San Antonio Texas and married on Valentines Day 2018, mother, Genevieve Najera; son, Gilbert Najera Jr.; brothers, Roland, Raymond and Adam Najera; sisters, Connie Guerra, Sylvia Gonzalez, Patsy Deleon, Rachael Gomez and Mary Prendez; 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; step-children, Andrea Gonzales, Gavin King and Ellen King; step-grandson, Edwin King. Visitation will be at St. Anthony Claret Catholic church, 6150 Roft Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78252 on Friday, March 27, 2020 beginning at 9:00 A.M. with a rosary at 10:00 A.M. and a funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
