Gilbert A. Hernandez Sr.

Gilbert Avalos Hernandez Sr., born on September 17, 1931 in MacKay, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord, on August 27, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 84. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and Retired as a TSgt from the Air Force Reserves. Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years of marriage, Ernestina A. Hernandez, his loving children; Henry Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez Jr. (Beverly), Ermelinda Hernandez, Jaime Hernandez, Elizabeth Hernandez (Alfonso Leal), Loretta Ybarra (Rosendo), John David Hernandez(Elva), Evangeline Hernandez, Mark Anthony Hernandez (Laura), siblings; Esperanza De La Pena, Benjamin Hernandez, Benito Hernandez, 19 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, including Esperanza Villarreal (Gene) & Yolanda Alvarez. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 05, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, September 06, 2016 after a 8:30 a.m. Chapel Service with Military Honors and Interment to follow at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
