Gilbert M. Garcia, Sr., entered rest on December 23, 2014. A native of San Antonio, born on July 14, 1929 to Prejedes Garcia and Febe Moreyra. He honorably served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, retired from Civil Service at Kelly AFB after 30 years, and ended his career at Ft. Sam Houston. He then worked part time at ATU Local 694. He was a passionate do-it-yourselfer, who had many talents, great sense of humor, and words of wisdom-“Head for the round house, they can’t corner you there!” Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Garcia; son-in-laws, Deacon Ernie Huizar and Alfredo Garcia. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Lupe P. Garcia; children: Rose P. Garcia, Belinda G. Huizar, Gilbert P. Garcia, Jr (Ella); 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and other relatives. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church.
