George Edward Starr

George Edward Starr passed away on March 28, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 71. He was born on June 20, 1951. George was a proud veteran from the U.S. Army who served in the Vietnam War. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend who will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

George was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. One of his hobbies that he enjoyed was coin and stamp collecting. George had a love for NHRA drag racing. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball with his son Edward, amongst other sports.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucius Dorsey Starr and Lois Wentworth Starr.

George is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Glenda Jeffcoat Starr. Additionally, he is survived by his children, Edward Conrad Starr (and wife April), and Shelley Starr Bettis (and husband Edward). George was proud of his six grandchildren: Christian Hochhalter, Chloe Sommers, Wyatt Griffith, Emma Hildebrand, Freddie Hildebrand, and Savannah Starr. He is also survived by his sister Claudia Starr Kelley (and husband Grady “Buddy”).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the San Antonio Scenic Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 11223 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78250. Interment on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach road, San Antonio, Texas 78209, Shelter # 3 with U.S. Army honors.
