

George H. Speaks passed away at home on Sunday Sept.7, 2014 at the age of 82, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Lanett AL and attended Lanett High School and Auburn University. George was a proud veteran, having served 22 years in the USAF. He worked many years with Radio Shack and was the first Governor of the Medina Moose Lodge (1985-1986) in Castroville, TX. George was loved by all his family and friends, and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Speaks and beloved children; Jeffery Speaks (Lynn), Kimberly Speaks, and Donna Van Wychen (Steven). Grandchildren; Ryan Speaks, Elizabeth Speaks, Jason Miele, Jacob Hotchkiss, Jessica Stone-Luna. Great grandchildren; Dylan, Maddox, Greyson, Isabel, Alexander, Nicholas. Visitation will be held Saturday Sept. 13, 2014 from 5-7PM and Memorial service at 7PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home at 6321 Bandera Rd. San Antonio, TX 78238. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston Nat’l Cemetery Monday Sept. 15, 2014 at 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. at www.alz.org.
