George Gordon Cameron, called "Gordy" when young and "Rod" later due to his resemblance to actor Rod Cameron, was born in Dundalk, Maryland and grew up to be a WWII bombardier at 19 and a jet pilot in his 20s. Flying F86 and F100 jet aircraft, stationed in England, Germany and Japan, and an instructor at Williams Air force base, Arizona. He was an early "advisor" in Vietnam and received many commendations, medals and awards during his aviation career, culminating in the rank of Major. He was patriotic, loved Texas, and will be dearly missed by his family.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas. Everyone will meet at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 for the rendering of military honors and graveside service.
