Gene Paul Brantley, a beloved father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully on 8/21/2023 at the age of 79. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Hugh Brantley and Annie Ruth Mayer. Gene Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances Brantley, and his dear sister Mary Beth Stoner.
He is survived by his son, Michael Gene Brantley; daughter, Traci (Steven) Sandoval; and stepson, Kyle (Jennifer) Evans. Gene Paul is also remembered fondly by his half-brothers, Doug (Barbara) Mayer and Wayne (Sylvia) Mayer. His memory lives on through his five grandchildren: Cosmo (Haley) Wilson, Max Sandoval, Ryan Andrade, Hunter Evans, and Ashley Evans, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene Paul was a man of many passions. He found great joy in cooking for his family and friends, hosting gatherings filled with laughter and love. He was equally enthusiastic about playing poker, reading, and indulging in music. As an avid sports fan, he cheered on the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, celebrating their victories and enduring their losses with unwavering loyalty.
His journey through life was marked by notable achievements. After moving to San Antonio as a young boy following his father's tragic death in WWII, Gene Paul attended Highland High School, where he crossed paths with the love of his life, Frances Voyta. Though they separated, fate would reunite them two decades later, leading to a beautiful marriage.
Gene Paul Brantley will be remembered for the exceptional qualities that set him apart. He was a man of happiness, known for his easygoing nature and his ability to forgive effortlessly. His love ran deep, and his generosity, kindness, loyalty, honesty, and affection were evident to all who knew him. He effortlessly combined sophistication with a down-to-earth spirit.
Above all, Gene Paul will be cherished for his kind heart, his unwavering love for music, and his infectious laughter that brightened the lives of those around him. He had a unique ability to bring joy to any room and make people feel genuinely loved and valued.
In the wake of his passing, Gene Paul Brantley leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of his family and friends. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched, and he will forever be missed.
