

He was born on August 6, 1929 in Poteet, Texas, to his parents who preceded him in death, Enriqueta Dena Hernandez and Julio Alvarado. He is survived by his wife Concepcion M. Alvarado, his sons Frank A. Alvarado and wife Isabel, and Phil Alvarado and wife Judith, grandchildren Amber Nicole Gonzales, Joshua James, Anthony James, and Samantha Alvarado and his great granddaughter Alexis Gonzales and numerous other family members. Frank was a culinary trained chef who at one time owned and operated Panchita’s Mexican Restaurant on Bandera Rd. He also worked at Fort Sam Houston Golf club, Laurel Ridge Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital and Sid Peterson hospital in Kerrville just to name a few. He was a member of the fraternity of Executive Chefs in Nevada and served as President of the Executive Chefs in San Antonio, Texas. Frank was a Korean War veteran, a member of the Catholic faith and the Knights of Columbus. Frank served his country proudly from Nov 1948 until Aug 1989 during which time he received numerous medals and awards which included the Bronze star. Visitation will take place from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. James M. Kotara celebrant.
