Fidel Perez Garcia passed away on September 9, 2020 at the age of 81 in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Cloete, Coahuila, Mexico on April 24, 1939, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sylvia L. Garcia; his parents, Jose Garcia and Sotera Perez Garcia; 5 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Our Father was a kind, strong, loving, hardworking family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He was a masterful skilled masonry/bricklayer for over 40 years. His work can be seen throughout our great city, State and country. Next time you visit the barracks at the Alamo, Hemisphere Park, the Fairmount hotel, San Antonio Light building and Our Lady of the Lake University know that his hands laid many of those stones/bricks and remember him.
Fidel is survived by his children, Jesse Garcia (Rosy), Oscar Garcia (Debbie), Edward Garcia (Araceli) and Juan Carlos Garcia (Ken); his grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Alyssa, Crystal, Mia, Jackson and Jacinta; his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ryann Olivia and Eliana Josephine; his brother, Humberto (Rosy) and his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the Visitation at Funeraria del Angel Trevino – 226 Cupples Road 78237 – will be limited to only 50 people in the building. Face coverings are required to be worn at all times.
The family will be receiving friends for a Visitation on Wednesday, September 23 from 4 PM to 9 PM. A Procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Thursday, September 24 and arrive at St. Agnes Catholic Church – 804 Ruiz St. 78207 – for a Mass at 10:00 AM. The Burial at San Fernando Cemetery II – 746 Castroville Rd. 78237 – will follow at the conclusion of the service.
