Our Lord called Evelyn Ruth Bauer McCormick of San Antonio, TX to Heaven on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the age of 87. Evelyn was born in Cleveland, OH on August 6, 1930 to Eva and Joseph Bauer. Most important was her role as a devoted wife of 59 years, loving mother and proud grandmother.
Evelyn married Everett “Mac” McCormick, a career USAF officer and pilot on May 17, 1958, two years after meeting in Bermuda. Her niece Debra Bauer and nephew Derek Bauer were attendants at the ceremony.
She was blessed to become the Mother of four children – Kevin, Meggin, Marilyn and Erin. Due to military transfers, Evelyn and family moved from the snowy weather in Ohio to warmer regions of Florida, California and finally to Texas where she finished raising her children through college. Evelyn enjoyed visiting with her nine grandchildren – providing them guidance and encouragement.
She took pleasure in organizing activities with the Officers’ Wives Club, entertaining, traveling, camping, bicycling and discussing horticulture with her neighborhood garden club. She was directly involved with the St. Luke Altar Society serving twice as president. Evelyn was also personally dedicated and had a vital influence for 40 years to continually help the needy through the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Evelyn joins her parents, daughter Marilyn, brother Karl Bauer and his wife Marie in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Everett C. McCormick; son Kevin C.
