I will always remember the eyes, the smile, the joyful feeling I had in her presence. Helle was very special.

Today I am remembering Helle and her beautiful smile and warm, inviting eyes. I remember her as an adorable child coming down and asking to play in my jungle with my stuffed animals. I remember her as a young adult, so friendly and ready to  engage in conversation.
I cannot think of her in past tense because she will always be there in my special memories. Her family is near and dear to my heart as is she. My love goes out to her family today and everyday.
I hope you are comforted by knowing that Helle is loved and remembered by so many.

I most remember the smile......the unending smile that reflected 
joy to be in my presence even though we saw each other so seldom.
I remember the eyes......focused on my eyes and assuring me our encounter was first priority at that moment.
Helle is planted in my memory not only as the grandchild of my 
dear friend, but as a special person I watched grace this world  with a spirit that made us all feel good.   
 

I remember Evan from my years at Boone. I remember him to be happy, always smiling and very friendly!  He seemed very considerate and thoughtful.  My love and prayers are with you and our family now. May perpetual  light shine upon now. 


I worked at Boone Elementary for a short time when Evan was a student there.  I just remember his blonde hair, sweet smile, and happy go lucky attitude.  I was lucky enough to see and speak to Evan in September albeit under sad circumstances but again I got see that fabulous smile and joyous spirit.   Sending prayers of comfort to family and friends of Evan Helle Jae.

Helle Jae was a great student and an incredible human. She brought joy and acceptance into my classroom. I would love it if every semester I had a student like her. I was so incredibly saddened to hear of your passing...it was my first experience as a teacher to hear of the loss of a student. Rest in peace, thank you for making me a better teacher, and a better person.

You were always so full of light. I remember you for your humor and the ability to make anyone laugh. You were never afraid to stand up for what you believe in, and it was inspiring to those around you, me included. Rest easy. 

It  was of the utmost pleasure of getting to know the beautiful soul helle Jae was. Meeting her in high school as a junior and she a freshman, I always felt a need to protect her. Helle was a very charismatic, smart, opinionated individual that just made you feel so deeply loved in her presence. She gave the best hugs ever!  I will forever cherish the moments I had with her. Whether it be picking her up for school, dropping her off at home, taking her to lunch or Marching by her side in band. I’m so blessed to have been able to be in a part of her 20 years of loving life. I miss you Helle and will forever continue to celebrate the beautiful human you were. Rest easily baby. 

You were very nice to let me visit your house at Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. I loved hanging out in the office and playing on the computer with the other kids. The cat kept getting in the chair.

I moved here from China  in August 2008 and came for the first one as Iron Man. Then I was Darth Vader and a Ninja. I cannot remember the others. 

I will always remember you.

What I will remember most about this special grandchild of my special friend Jann--those big expressive eyes that pulled you into her inner joy and that wide warm smile that told you she was happy to be in your presence.
Evan-Helle loved animals.My sweetest memory is of this gentle child appearing at my door with Gran Jann.She addressed me as Reebie because she could not articulate Ruby.She would politely ask if she could go to my jungle and play with my animals.When the door opened she knew exactly where to go.Eyes fixed forward,she purposefully marched through the house and made her way to my bedroom and collection of stuffed lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas and more.Ever-so-gently she would line them up and examine them respectfully.When her curiosity was satisfied, she returned each stuffed creature to its rightful place in my bedroom jungle.Then as quickly as she appeared,Evan-Helle was ready to leave until next time.Her visits were never long--just long enough to remind me that this special little someone shared my love for jungle animals.That special little someone grew up to be an extraordinary person.
My jungle animals are a reminder of that special little visitor who became that extraordinary person.
Evan-Helle you will be remembered and you will be missed.

Rest in paradise. She was a very lovely, beautiful young lady. May justice be served and her memory live on in our hearts and souls. <3

Helle and I hadn’t been close in a while and I didn’t get to know her in the last year of her life, but seeing her bravely live it as her true self despite all of the hardships she would certainly face was so incredibly inspiring. In all the time I’ve known her from elementary school to high school where she became one of my best friends and any interactions we had after, she was always kind, open minded and wonderful to be around. She was so passionate about the causes she stood for and never hesitated to say how much she loved her friends. I’m so glad I was able to know her.

Helle Jae was a dear friend of my son Dominic Mireles.  I remember Helle coming over to spend time with my son. They loved gaming. Helle was polite and kind. We are deeply saddened. You had a beautiful smile and yes you radiated joy and kindness. I know your soul lives on and one day you will be reunited with all who love you dearly. My deepest condolences to his family. You raised a beautiful person who was selfless and kind.  I will continue to pray for the family for strength during this difficult journey. Love always

I recently came across a quote that hit me so hard, it said “if only love was enough.” After hearing that I immediately broke down. I wish with all my heart that love could be enough because if that was the case I know you would be invincible. Everyone who knew you absolutely adored and loved you. You showed me so much love and cared for me. You mean EVERYTHING to me. I feel completely broken without you. You were the one person who really knew me, you never judged me or made me feel less of myself. You would raise me up and never allowed me to speak badly about myself. You are the most empowering woman I have ever met. I can’t even put into words how amazing of a person you are or how utterly broken I am without you. There is so much I want to say and apologize for but I know you’re still with me. I know you already know. You are my person. I love you so much Helle Jae.

Steve, Joy and I met you as a bundle just home from the hospital, your mother Molly's pop-up books at-the-ready, your father Ian's energetic and warm hospitality -- and happiness.

Months earlier, we adults had seen a Bruce Willis-Michelle Pfeiffer film, "The Story of Us" (1999), when your parents told us you were en route.

Now you would be part of their story, with you.

You were  a Gerber baby. Family gatherings followed. Birthdays. Bowling. Holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Food plentiful. Laughter, love and music. New Orleans jazz. The O'Connor band on game night.

Books throughout, as you shared your family's love of learning. Your Auntie "Net," Johnny and the rest of the neighborhood. Among them: Zoe, Alex, Zach, Emily, Natalie and sister McKenna. Along the way, a Monty Python quip or a pithy quote of your own. Your genuine smile and earnest eyes, throughout.

Thank you for gracing our memories, and those of so many others. They will always be with us, with you.

Helle and I had been friends for almost over 12 years. She was the most beautiful, kind, and funny person I’ve ever met. I have so many great memories and experiences with her. She was my first ever best friend and from the moment we first met back in 4th grade, Ms. Kerns class, we clicked. It was so easy to get along and have fun together. From nerf gun fights to video games, I’ll always remember the times we spent together and the laughs we shared. I hope you’re doing well wherever you are. You’ll always be in my heart. I love you.

Helle Jae, I am so thankful to have had the pleasure of knowing you. You impacted so many peoples lives, including mine. Thank you for being the bright, kind, and inspiring soul that many of us needed in our lives. I will never forget all the memories we had together and will always hold them so close to my heart. You will be forever loved and missed. Rest easy Helle. 

My sweet Helle Jae the memories we created will remain in my heart forever. Thank you for being such a great friend and just human being in general. You always stood up for what you believed in and I admired you for that, and you never cared what other people thought about you, you were always so brave. I love you, I can still hear your laugh and your jokes and it makes my heart warm because I know you are looking after all your loved ones. Helle Jae was one of the most beautiful people i have ever met. I am so blessed to have known her. She radiated kindness, and when you were in her presence she was such a pleasant soul to be around. We always made each other laugh and anyone who has talked to her could say without hesitating that she was so so smart and had such beautiful visions for the future. I miss her immensely, and i will for the rest of my life. She will forever live on in my heart and she lives on in the causes she believed in. I promise to unwaveringly fight for what she believed in because i know its what she would have wanted me to do

My beautiful Helle Jae, you radiated with compassion and love whenever you walked into a room. You were the most selfless and giving person I’ve ever met. You’ve inspired me to become a better person and instill your amazing qualities within myself. It’s so beautiful to see the positive impact you left on so many people.
