Eva Flores Benavides went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Benavides, children Virginia Tovar and Candor Tovar, Jr., step-sons Father Albert Benavides and Raymond Benavides, siblings Maria de Jesus/Suzie Flores Ramirez, Isabel Flores Torres, Jose Flores, Federico Flores, and Deodato Flores. She is survived by her brother Pedro Flores, her children Yolanda Flores Niemann (Barry), Ricardo Tovar (Lettie), Rolando Tovar (Terrie), Lucinda Leal (Rick), and Teresa Rodriguez (John), Step-children Raul Benavides, Jr., Diana Heimer, Yolanda Peca, and Robert Benavides, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Eva raised her seven children as a single parent. She earned a GED then her Associates degree in nursing and became an LVN. She worked at Methodist Hospital, where she was the first Spanish speaking LVN ET Assistant. At St. Mary Magdalen’s Church, she participated in Guadalupanas, Matachines, and the Spanish choir. Her hobbies included swimming, music, and competitive games. She loved all sports, Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and the Spurs! But her deepest love was her family.
A visitation for Eva will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. A rosary will occur Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, TX 78201. An interment will occur Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 11:50 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
