A lifelong and devout Catholic, Ms. Villanueva was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church and attended Mass at several local parishes in the San Antonio area. An enthusiastic believer in the Holy Rosary, she taught hundreds of children the joy of the Catechism for over 30 years.
Born in Frederick, Oklahoma to the late Brigido and Emelia Palomo of Mission, Texas, Ester was raised in Mount Prospect, Illinois graduating from Prospect High School in 1970. She spent her career in the accounting fields, mostly in Bookkeeping and Accounts Payable, in the Rio Grande Valley, Schaumberg, (Illinois) and San Antonio areas.
Ester is survived by her son, Martin Antonio Villanueva of San Antonio, TX; former husband, Juan Antonio Villanueva of Monterrey, Mexico; and the following brothers and sisters, Margarita and then late Dr. Mel Sohel of Edinburg, TX; Roy and Christine Palomo (Viki Tipsworth-Palomo) of Alton, TX; Eva Acevedo of Mission, TX; Brigido and Christine Palomo (Nancy Caldwell-Palomo) of St. Charles, IL; Gene and Raquel Palomo of Mission, TX; Jane and Phil Ruiz-Esparza of McAllen, TX, Eduardo and Blanca Palomo (Trini Gamez) of McAllen, TX; and 14 nieces and nephews.
