It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Estella Mendoza Rodriguez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Estella, known affectionately as Stella, left this world peacefully on November 13, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.
Born to Celestino & Carlota Mendoza on June 7, 1928, Stella's life was one of love, faith, and devotion. She shared 72 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Celestino Herrerra Rodriguez.
Stella was a dedicated mother to David Rodriguez (Pat), Irene Morales (Mario), and Richard Rodriguez (Belinda). Her legacy extends through her grandchildren: Jeanine Talley (Patrick), Jeremy Rodriguez (Victoria), Marcos Morales, Marisa Crocker (Mathew), Martin Morales, Lauren Steinbach (Jerrad), and Danielle Rodriguez. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Hannah, Sophia, Charlotte, Mathew, Violet, Madeline, Harper, and Harrison.
Stella enjoyed sewing, shopping, cooking, baking, fishing and gardening. Most evenings you could find her watering her plants and tending to her yard.
A woman of deep faith, Stella was a devoted Christian and an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Stella is survived by her sister, Alice Zuniga, her brother, Frank Mendoza, and her sister, Rachel Frausto ( Frank). She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Awaiting Stella in heaven are her parents, Celestino and Carlota Mendoza, her sister Lydia & Lencho Pacheco, her brother Rudy & Alice Mendoza, and siblings-in-law Nick & Monica Lopez, Robert Zuniga, Gilbert Garcia, and Jesse Martinez Sr.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 12:30 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 350 Sutton Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228. A committal service will on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
