Esperanza Rios Garces

Esperanza Rios Garces, age 97, passed away April 27, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in McAllen, Texas on July 12, 1926. She was 1 of 9 children born to the late Felipe Rios Pena and Santos Rios.

Esperanza was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was a homemaker and loved keeping a beautiful home. She loved working daily on her plants and roses. She was a great seamstress and also loved to cook especially for the holidays and she truly enjoyed going to Las Vegas. She was the rock of our family and will be missed beyond measure.

Esperanza is survived by her children, Sandra Rodriguez and her husband Gilbert, Rick Garces and his wife Ana, Manuel Garces and his wife Martha; grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Gilbert Rodriguez, Steven Garces, Alexia Garces, Gianna Garces, Loren Garces and Alana Garces; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Lily, Miles and Rome; beloved sisters, Carmen Rios Munoz, Baudilia Rios Munoz and Blanca Rios Garza. Also survived by her devoted niece Patricia De La Cruz and her children Liana and Armando and other extended family members in Monterrey and Aguascalientes Mexico.

A memorial rosary will be recited at 2:30 pm Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive San Antonio, Texas 78228 with a memorial mass at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm

Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10:00 am. where she will be laid to rest with her husband Manuel Garces
