Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and son Ernesto T. Urias Jr. born in San Antonio, Texas on June 23, 1951 went to be with our lord unexpectedly on Thursday, October, 27, 2016. He joins his parents Ernesto and Jesusita. He is survived by his children, Velia Charo (Michael), and Ernest Urias III; his grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Steven, Aiden, Jesse Joe, Destinie, Ernest IV, and Abel; and great grandchildren Elijah, Andrew, Arlo; his sisters, Irma Urias, and Sylvia Urias-Vallejo (Adrian) and Special extended family, David (Laura), James (Mary), Gina (Joe), Nathan, Miranda, Arianna, David Jr., James Jr., Barbara Jean, Ricky, Natasha, Dolores and Sarah. Special friends Bob and Gloria Redding.
In 1972 at the age of 21, Ernest joined the U. S. Army, serving eight years. As a Vietnam combat veteran experiencing the profound effects, he struggled with emerging into a patriotic veteran. On the night of his passing we were welcomed at his home by a green light glowing in support of "Greenlight A Vet." and Old Glory flying freely on his porch. Our dad had conquered his struggle. We cannot be prouder than to call him a proud Vietnam Veteran.
Ernest was a free-spirited and simple man and had an even greater sense of humor. He was always giving and thoughtful. Fishing, swimming, and kayaking brought him happiness. He was an entrepreneur and innovator. He loved music, from jazz to punk rock. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he would always make time for.
The viewing will take place on Sunday November 6, 2016 from 4pm to 9pm with the rosary to be recited at 7pm at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX. A procession will depart the funeral home at 9am for a Mass celebrating his life on Monday November 7, 2016 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church (1147 Cupples Rd.) at 9:30 am, followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
I will miss you, daddy. A dad’s love is special, a gift beyond compare, you only know the meaning when he is no longer there. A special time, a special face, a special dad I can’t replace. With an aching heart I whisper low, I miss you, dad, and love you so. I will miss seeing you being a Gpa. You will live forever in the hearts of your family and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
