He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Maria Sanchez; brother, Joseph Sanchez; sisters, Mary Louise Moye and Stella Orosco. He is survived by his wife, Carolina H. Sanchez; children, Ernest F. Sanchez (Josephine), Steve R. Sanchez (Diana), David J. Sanchez (Diahann) and Victoria Najera; grandchildren, Ernest Sanchez, Steve R. Sanchez II, Lori Sanchez, James Najera and Matthew Najera; brothers, Sam Sanchez Jr. (Pinky) and Alex Sanchez (Vangie); brother-in-law, Roy Orosco
