

He was the youngest of six children: Sabah, Edna, David, Eugene and Christine. Ernest dedicated his life to serving his family, his community, church, and God. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife of 34 years, Elyse, and a guiding light to his five children, Celine, Marie, Edmond, Genevieve and Douglas. He was a devout Catholic, an ordained Subdeacon and a lifelong active member of St. George Maronite Catholic Church.
He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1972 and went on to earn a law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1983. Ernest pursued a fulfilling career in the legal community of San Antonio. He was well respected as a civil and amicus attorney. In the last fifteen years of his career, he was recognized by his peers as one of the top family law mediators in the city, operating out of his historic and beloved Naylor House.
Ernest was an avid music lover and drummer who enjoyed jamming and playing gigs with his family band, “The Ernie Karam Experience.” He is predeceased by his parents, Edmond and Sophie Karam and is survived by his wife, his five siblings, his five children and his two sons-in-law, Aaron Havard and Chase Beakley.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6070 Babcock Road, San Antonio, Texas. The visitation will begin at 6:00 PM with the Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on April 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at St. George Maronite Catholic Church.
