San Antonio, Texas went to be by the Lord’s side on January 23, 2022. He is preceded in death
by the love of his life, his wife, Maria Teresa “Tita” Mata. He is survived by his 3 daughters,
Yolanda Perez & husband Robert Settles, Elsa & husband Richard Mendoza, & Leticia Mata
Ochoa; 9 grandchildren, April, Leslie, Vanessa, Bobby, Erica, Richard, Alexis, Austin, & Alyssa;
and his 11 great grandchildren. Viewing and services will be held on February 9, 2022 at 6 &
7pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. The family has asked for the service and burial to be
private, but the services will be live streamed. In lieu of flowers the family requests that
donations be made to Iglesia de Dios Mi Refugio (1822 Rivas Street). Emilio truly enjoyed
reading, attending church each Sunday, his frequent visits to HEB, and spending quality time
with his family. He dedicated his life to the Lord and served his church for more than 60 years.
He made friends wherever he went and shared God’s word and love with all he encountered. He
devoted his life to taking care of his family and instilled a love of learning in his grandchildren.
He was one who shed his light wherever he was and will be deeply missed by so many. Emilio
proudly served his country in the Air Force and was a dedicated Husband, Father, & Pepo.
Emilio was loved immensely by his family. He was a strong and courageous man who never lost
his faith.
