Elva V. Garcia

Elva peacefully passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto A. Garcia known as “Bob”. Surviving are her children; daughter Illiana Kruithof (wife of Ray Kruithof), son Roberto “Bobby” Jr. (husband to Monika Vidaurri), and daughter Linda Neri (wife of Andrew E. Plante). She had 6 grandchildren; Victoria Renee Garcia, Robert “Bobby” Cruz Garcia III, Sierra Elva Alvarado, Joshua Shay Kruithof, Eilleen Rose Plante, and Andrew Robert “AJ” Plante), and she had 3 Great Grandchildren, (Isabella Sophie Arechiga, Liam Hoke, and Benjamin Garcia).

Elva was born on November 24, 1937, in Raymondville, Texas to Beatriz and Trinidad Villarreal. She had four brothers (Humberto, Emilio, Ruben, and Samuel) and three sisters (Ofelia, Maria Antonia, and Beatriz). She married her high school sweetheart, Roberto A. Garcia on December 16, 1962.

Elva was a devoted homemaker and military wife. Her husband, Bob, spent 30+ years serving his country in the United States Air Force and the family lived in many different places around the world including Fairbanks Alaska, Wiesbaden and Berlin Germany, Tampa, Homestead and Key West Florida, and eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas. Elva and Bob loved to travel and enjoyed every place they lived, making lifelong friends along the way.

Her family is comforted knowing that she is once again reunited with her loving husband Bob.

A visitation for Elva will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with a prayer service beginning at 7pm. A committal service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
