Eloisa F. Guerrero was born on April 13, 1935 to Dimas and Aurora Fonseca and journeyed to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Jesse Fonseca, and husband Antonio R. Guerrero, and is survived by her children as well as her sisters Stella Garcia and Aurora Garcia.
The Good Lord abundantly blessed her with eight children: son Manuel Guerrero (wife Carmen), son Antonio Guerrero, daughter Virginia Rodriguez (husband Leandro), daughter JoAnn Mazuca (husband Arthur), son Thomas Guerrero (wife Roseanne), daughter Gloria Guerrero, daughter Christina Salinas (husband Richard), and son Edward Guerrero (wife Lisa); 12 grandchildren: Arthur, Monica, Victoria, Christopher, Veronica, Bianca, Thomas, Kathryn, Isabella, Brandon, Antonio "Tiger", and Christian "CJ"; plus a wealth of great-grandchildren (Caitlin, Rey, Darien, Katalina, Luke, Madeline, and Selma), one great-great-grandson (Milo), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She started working at a very young age, always worked hard to support her family, and lived a full life filled with love. Eloisa's very first job was as an elevator operator. Some of her other employers included Woolworth's, the Bimbee Shoe Factory, Levis-Strauss, La Prensa de San Antonio, and Guerrero CPA.
Eloisa's deep faith and spirituality led her to become a very active member of the Little Flower Basilica Brown Scapular for over three decades, which included serving as President for many of those years. Additionally, she volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul. In 2020, Eloisa received the esteemed Lumen Gentium Award from The Archdiocese of San Antonio for her 50 years of service to her community and bringing "a light to the peoples!"
Her favorite pastimes included listening to music, dancing, traveling, being with family and friends, and making people laugh with well-timed quips. She instilled in her family the traits: to be strong, independent, hard-working, and God-loving. She was a devout member of La Sociedad De La Union and was a wonderful cook as evidenced by her family-favorite soups, tamales, and hot sauces.
Given Eloisa's dedication to the church, the family would appreciate donations in her name to "The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower" at 1715 N Zarzamora St, San Antonio, TX 78201
Eloisa will be missed deeply. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for our mother.
