Elisandro was married to the love of his life Olivia Lopez on Dec 17, 1966. They had been married 56 years before his passing.
Elisandro was a member of the Cibolo Volunteer Fire Department and worked at the San Antonio Railroad, the Pepsi Cola Company, Booth Dispensing Equipment, and Swearingen Aircraft. He worked most of his life as a chauffeur and landscaper for the Chittum Family and then later for the Parker and Travis Families. As his family grew he took on a second job working as a custodian for Montgomery Wards in the old Windsor Park Mall. He worked two jobs for 8 years in order to provide for his family. He worked one job from 7:30am-4:30pm and the second from 5:00pm -9:00pm.
Elisandro was a man who had many skills including construction, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, and automotive. He was also musically talented, he knew how to play guitar but was known for his ability and love for the accordion. In his younger years he played in a band with his brothers. When he was older he would accompany his wife and play his accordion at church.
Elisandro came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on October 14, 2000. He was a member of the Church of God 7th Day organization where he spent countless hours volunteering his time, skills and talents at various churches. At his passing he was a member of the New Hope United Church.
As a simple, humble man with a second grade education he leaves behind a rich legacy of hard work, humility, compassion, faith in Jesus and love for his family. His children grew up hearing their Dad say “if you are going to do something, you might as well do it right the first time otherwise you’ll have to do it over again.” Elisandro, lived his life right the first time.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arnulfo Del Toro Sr. and Maria Del Rosario; five brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter. He was the last living member of his immediate family.
Elisandro is survived by his wife Olivia Del Toro and his six children: Sandra Salazar and her husband Sam, Elisandro Del Toro Jr. and his wife Lali, Victor Del Toro and his wife Liza, Eduardo Del Toro, Elizabeth Ortega and her husband David, and Sarah Del Toro.
