Elida enjoyed being a career Air Force and Civil Service wife, enjoyed travelling, exploring new countries, food, traditions, and cultures. She was an avid reader, and daily crossword puzzle solver. She loved learning new arts and crafts every year, and volunteered at The Majestic Theater, The Institute of Texas Cultures, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Center. She was also a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Prayer Group and Church Choir. She cherished Friday date night with her husband, and she enjoyed dancing with him daily, they would often dance in the kitchen or stop the car and dance on the street! Elida had an adventurous spirit and loved to decorate and celebrate all holidays and had annual Halloween and Christmas parties with her family and friends.
Elida was a great friend and made close bonds with everyone she met, especially her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Both she, and her husband Rosbel, loved their grandchildren so much, that every summer they would have one set of grandchildren for two weeks, two weeks with all of them and then spend two weeks with the other set. She would take them to Sea World every day in their little Red Wagon, come home for dinner and all of them, her husband included, would go back to enjoy the evening fireworks. She also hosted many nieces and nephews the summer as well. She loved deeply and we will all miss her love, laughter, hugs, and kisses.
Elida was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 64, and during the 19 years of losing her memory she was always filled with love, joy, and a contagious laughter.
