Eli M. Ortiz, age 87, passed away February 14, 2022 in Bulverde, TX. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 10, 1935 to Jose and Amelia Ortiz. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, served with the San Antonio Police Department for 42 years, assisted with FBI and DEA investigation task forces, and retired as the FCC Southwest Region Radio Communications Coordinator.
Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by mother (Amelia “Nini” Ortiz) and niece (Deborah Aguirre).
He is survived by wife (Oralia G. Ortiz); children Luis Angel Ortiz (Irma Corpus-Ortiz), Gricelda Ortiz Christie (Jeffery Scott Christie), Monica Ortiz-Rodriguez (Tony Rodriguez); grandchildren (Luis, Jessenia Elizabeth Gonzalez, and Jasmin Rodriguez); brother: Carlos M. Ortiz (Sylvia Ortiz) and niece's Sandra Lynette Garcia (Edward Moreno) and Angela Trejo (José Trejo).
The visitation will be at 6 pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Rosary to be recited at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, Thursday, February 24, 2022 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78230. The burial following at Sunset Memorial Park.
