Mary Eileen Hickok, age 95, went to be with her Savior on August 2, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on November 20, 1922 in San Antonio, TX to Herbert and Corrie Hickok. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Herbert N. Hickok, Jr, and is survived by her nieces: Nancy (Lane) Littrell, Linda (John) Richardson and Susan (Bruce) Douglas; great nieces and nephews: Alison (Erik) Finstrom, Anna Richardson, James (Candace) Richardson, Austin (Betsy) Littrell, Jonathan (Brittany) Richardson, Abby Littrell, Josh Richardson, Alayne (Lawrence) Tadlock, Alexis Littrell, Jordan Richardson and Sarah Richardson; great-great nieces and nephews: Kayleigh, Andrew and Emily Finstrom, and Hays and Ford Richardson; and 2 sponsored children from Kenya: Fred and Nashipal.
Eileen was born in San Antonio, TX. She lived in Galveston, TX from ages 2-10 before moving back to San Antonio. She graduated from Jefferson High School and received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She also completed a Masters in Education from Trinity University in San Antonio.
Eileen was a dedicated and gifted teacher in the San Antonio School District for almost four decades teaching 6th grade at Briscoe Elementary and teaching math at Longfellow Middle School, retiring in 1982.
She was an active member of Madison Square Presbyterian Church and later First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio where she was a member of Circle 112 and involved in many volunteer activities and Bible Studies.
A lifetime learner, Eileen was passionate about all of God’s creations, especially birds. She loved to travel.
Visitation for Ms. Hickok will be Friday August 10, 2018 from 6-8pm at Sunset Funeral Chapel with her Funeral Service at Sunset Chapel on August 11, 2018 at 10 am. Burial will directly follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or San Antonio First Presbyterian Local Missions Fund.
