Edward “Oscar” B. Ramon was called home by the Lord on April 7, 2013, at the age of 66. He was born on May 24, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Oscar and Cleofas Ramon. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jose, Mike, Alfredo, and David Ramon and sisters Patsy Gonzales, Zuelma Yanez, and Lupe Reyes. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Alicia, son Daniel Rene (Cathy), grandchildren D.J. (Myrissa), Samantha, Jason Edward, and Allison Granados, brothers Jesus Antonio Ramon (Zoila) and Ray Ramon (Marion), sisters Dora Arriola, Irma Rodriguez, and Anna Gonzales, and numerous nieces and nephews. Oscar served honorably in the U.S. Army and served two terms in Viet Nam. He worked at Kelly AFB, TX, for almost 30 years and throughout his career received several performance awards. Also at Kelly he served as a member of several committees and took part in planning special events. He was a life member of the VFW (Post 8510) and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Alumni Association. In honor of his mother he attained a degree in Social Work. His main concern was to help the elderly and less fortunate to obtain the benefits they were entitled to. Oscar was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 5 p.m. with a Catholic Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A procession will depart the funeral home on Friday, at 9 a.m. for a Celebration of Life Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
