Duane Steven Hargis, son of Anita and Steven Hargis was born December 7th, 1979, in Wichita Falls Texas. He passed away peacefully at the age of 38 years old. He will forever be missed and remembered by all the lives he touched.
Duane leaves behind his children, Gabriel and Liliana Hargis, whom he held close to his heart and mother of his children Reyna Esmeralda Hargis. His memory will be cherished forever by his parents, Steven and Anita Hargis, his brother Keith and Teresa Hargis, and nephew Ryan (Uncle Bear to him). He will also be remembered by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Duane graduated from John Marshall High School where he displayed tremendous talent in the Ram Band. He then proceeded to minor studies at SAC, transferring to the University of North Texas, completing his Bachelors of Music, in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Music Education and Jazz Studies.
He was a highly accomplished musician. He recorded albums and performed with Kenneth Copeland, Joshua Experience, and various Tejano Artists. He then went on to perform with Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution. All of Duane’s perseverance, lead to a Grammy win for an outstanding album.
Duane was a mentor to so many and inspired others to follow their dreams. His soul will live on forever when those close to him are listening to jazz, blues, Christian music, or just about any type of music which has a smooth trumpet involved.
Visitation will begin at 6PM with a rosary at 7PM on Thursday, March 1st at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home located at 6321 Bandera Rd. Mass will be held Friday, March 2nd at 10am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Duane will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 3rd at 10:00 AM in Memory Gardens Cemetery located at 8200 Old Brownsville Rd Corpus Christi, TX 78415
