Dorothy A. "Dotsy" Miller entered into peace with her Lord June 3, 2002 following a courageous two year bout with cancer. She was born September 27, 1936 in San Antonio to Edwin A. Taegel and Dorothy Mann Jackson Taegel. Dotsy grew up in Laredo, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio and graduated from Alamo Heights High School and Trinity University. She met her life mate, Lieutenant Joseph Miller Jr., in Germany in 1960 and the couple were married in Germany in 1962. She accompanied her husband in his Army career and also taught elementary school in the San Antonio, East Central, and Army Overseas School Districts. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Battle of Flowers, Tuesday Musical Club, Junior Leagues of Minneapolis and San Antonio, and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was a San Antonio debutante and served as the Duchess of the Mystic Sea in the 1958 Fiesta Court. In 1998 she retired from John Glenn Elementary School in the East Central Independent School District. Beloved by her family and friends, she was renowned for her renditions of Hard Hearted Hannah and Mountain Gal. Dotsy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Colonel Joseph Miller Jr. of San Antonio; sons, Gregory E. Miller, of League City, Texas, and John M. Miller, of Austin; daughter, Theresa E. Miller, of Bedford, Texas; and brother, Dr. Edwin J. Taegel of Houston; and grandson, Alexander J. Miller, of League City. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Janell E. Miller, and adopted granddaughter, Kayleigh A. Finely, of League City.
