

She was born on August 26, 1941 to Joe and Anita Courtney, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up on the south side of San Antonio in Highland Park and went to school at St. Paul Lutheran, where she was baptized and confirmed and later married. She then went to Page Jr. High and on to Brackenridge. Then Highlands High School was built and Dorene was in the first graduating class in 1959. She married Charles Tyler in 1960, who also predeceased her. Dorene always loved animals, especially dogs, and adopted some of hers from local animal shelters.
Dorene is survived by her twin daughters, Dana Davenport and Dawn Karshis, grandchildren Matthew McQueeney and Michelle McQueeney, and great-granddaughter Aubree Short; great-grandson, Rayce Robbins; sister, Carol Ann Courtney, niece, April Hook
Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm with the Funeral service to be celebrated at 3:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 308 Mt. Calvary Dr. San Antonio, Texas 78209. Interment to immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Park 1701 Austin Hwy San Antonio, Texas
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorene’s name to the animal shelter of your choice or to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
