Dione Isaacs gently and peacefully passed away on April 25, 2015 at the age of 94 in San Antonio, Texas. Dione waited patiently to join her husband Bud S. Isaacs who predeceased her in May 1999 and her 13 brothers and sisters.
Dione was born in the little town of Puunene, on the island of Maui Hawaii to Victor Tamayo Miranda and Mariana Pavao. Dione began her Hula dancing career as a 5 year old child singing and dancing on the stage and then aboard the ships for the U.S. Fleet. She continued her Hula dancing career on the Mainland as an adult at such places as the San Francisco World’s Fair in 1939 to Broadway in New York city.
After Bud and Dione’s kids were older, she worked as a volunteer with The Thalians, founded by actors, it is a charitable organization dedicated to mental health causes and in the surgical recovery room at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. Dione had many talents but her passion was being a gourmet cook for the many Hollywood celebrities she and Bud entertained from his work in the television and motion picture industry. Dione enjoyed traveling the world and in her later years came to San Antonio to be near her Daughter Randy and Grandson Roger.
Dione is survived by her Children: Dione Rothgeb, Van and wife Susan Isaacs and Randy Mena. Her Grandchildren: Susan and husband Kim Harris, Janet and husband Greg Lewis, Dawn and husband Tony Veltre and Roger Gauvreau. Her Great-grandchildren: Jacob and wife Kelsey Harris, Nathan and wife JoAnna Harris, Cameron Harris, Wesley Harris, Ryann Hulett, Tyler Lewis, Jordan Lewis, Dr. David Stout, Taelor Fernandez, Elizabeth Fernandez, Wilson Fernandez and Reagan Gauvreau. Her Great-great-grandchildren: Claire Harris and Calvin Harris, and many, many Nieces, Nephews, Great and Grand Nieces and Nephews.
Dione was interred at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles with her beloved husband on April 28, 2015. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at her retirement community Brookdale Patriot Heights, 5000 Fawn Meadow, San Antonio, Tx. 78240, located in the Medical Center.
