Diana will be greatly missed by her husband, Sergio C. Ruiz; daughters, Victoria A. Diaz (husband Jorge) and Celina Ruiz-Salinas; father, José Maria Reyna; grandchildren, Alejandro and Alexia Diaz, and Roman Salinas; brothers, Simon Reyna (Gloria), Juan Manuel Reyna (Tammy), Joe Reyna Jr. (Sherry), Jesse Reyna (Cissy), Javier Reyna (Troy); sisters, Julia Ortega (Carlos), Isabel Lara (Sammy), and Julieta Reyna; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Diana meets in Heaven her mother, Maria M. Reyna, and nephew, Maximiliano Lara.
Diana graduated from Covington High School in 1974. After high school she attended UT Pan American where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and later went on to earn two Master’s degrees.
She married her soulmate Sergio C. Ruiz, on October 3, 1981. They shared 40 years of marriage and built a beautiful life together for their daughters and grandchildren.
Diana worked in education for 35 years, retiring in 2014 as an elementary school guidance counselor. She loved her job and blessed many throughout her years of employment with Edinburg CISD.
Diana enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble and various board games, puzzles, and thrift shopping. Diana left the world a better place than she found it, she had strong unwavering faith and was a prayer warrior always putting herself and her needs behind everyone else’s. Diana was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a heart that overflowed with compassion and understanding.
She will be dearly missed, but we celebrate that she’s in Heaven with her Lord and Savior! Guided by Jesus Christ she leaves a legacy of bravery, strength, and faithfulness which she instilled in her daughters and grandchildren.
A visitation for Diana will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM. A committal service will occur the following day, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
