He was born on October 21, 1992, in San Antonio, Texas to Anthony and Tamara DeFoe. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Catherine Marie Tanner, and Maria Guadalupe Urrutia He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth DeFoe; his parents Anthony and Tamara DeFoe; his Grampy Michael Tanner; his uncle Corey Tanner; his siblings through marriage Annette, Steven, Juan, Jessica, Joey, Tino, Carlos, Anthony, Andrea Hernandez; his numerous nieces and nephews whom he very muched loved; and his dear friends.
Devin was attending college for a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. Devin enjoyed time spent playing video games with his very best friends Adam Hooker, Joshua Hurley, Kevin McLean, Christopher Bracey, and his uncle Corey. In his free time, he was an exceptionally gifted sketch artist whose talent never ceased to amaze any person lucky enough to see his work. He was also an avid collector of samurai swords, Japanese artifacts and Oni masks. He was an astoundingly diverse man who loved everything from reading horror stories, to watching quirky indie films, and even preparing delicious pizzas. Pizza played a loving role in Devin’s life as this was how he met his wife of six and a half years. Of the many contributions Devin made to others in his life, and the many milestones of success Devin had achieved, it was earning the love of his wife that he was most proud of. The love Devin showed for Elizabeth was profoundly deep and only competed with by Elizabeth’s own love for Devin. In fact, Elizabeth is quoted as saying “There was never a second, I did not feel loved or cared for by him. He was the greatest husband imaginable and will be missed dearly not only by me but by anyone who ever had the opportunity of meeting such a good man.”
Devin’s friends remember him for kindness, sincerity, and unyielding loyalty for those he loved. “The world has been impacted by his life and we are all better for having known him” said one friend. Even through Devin’s battle with cancer, he never lost who he was-a beautiful person whose love and genuine interest in others always left people feeling heard and cared for.
