Delia “Dee” Davis was born August 7, 1926, in San Antonio, TX. She entered into rest at age 89 on February 10, 2016, in San Antonio, TX, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Peter Patrick Davis, Sr.; mother, Consuelo Torres [aka Maria de Jesus (Perez) Torres]; sister, Elida “Rita” (Torres) Rodriguez; and son, Michael James Davis. She was the beloved mother of 7 children, of whom 6 survived her, Pete Davis (wife, Wanda), of Maryville, TN; Gloria Marie Davis (husband, Allen Lamb), of Dallas, TX; and Susan Diane (Davis) Garza (husband, Steve Jr.); Debra Inez Davis; Cynthia Ann Davis (husband, Jesse Ruiz); and Nancy Gay (Davis) McIntosh (husband, Brian), all of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Spencer Wayne Davis, Ashley Givens, Ryan Christopher Martinez (wife, Sarah), Matthew Troy Martinez, Steve Garza III (wife, Kyna), Jason David Garza (wife, Megan), Catherine Kelly Garza, Michael Scott Davis Ruiz, Justin Eric David Ruiz, Samantha Ann Davis Ruiz, and Corey Nicole Davis Ruiz; and is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Claire Marie Martinez, Gracie Elisabeth Garza, Sophie Lynn Garza, and Troy Thomas Garza.
She was a proud and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a warm caring friend to many. She was a longtime member of the local and state PTA, and was an honorary lifetime member of the Collins Garden Elementary School PTA. Delia also assisted her husband in their business, Pat’s Grocery, on Zarzamora St., in San Antonio for many years; and worked as a teacher’s assistant for the San Antonio Independent School District, at Travis Elementary School for many years, where she had many loyal dear friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited that evening at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont St. San Antonio, TX 78247 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 A.M. The family extends their gratitude for the loving care and services of Heart to Heart Hospice.
