Dee Dee Beverly Saathoff

Dee Dee Sams Saathoff, 77, passed away December 17, 2014 with her husband by her side. She was born July 5, 1937 in San Antonio, daughter of Barney and Edna Sams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Barney “Buddy” Sams. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Rogers, her loving husband of 60 years, Jack Saathoff; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Billy and Dorothy Saathoff; three sons, Wade and wife Stacy, Ward and wife Suzanne, and Wesley and wife Cindy; six grandchildren, Nichole O’Brien and husband Joey; Maggie Gamboa and husband Sergio; Taylor, Clay, Sam, and Cole Saathoff; and three great grandchildren, Shane, Zachary and Ava O’Brien. Dee Dee and Jack raised their family in Helotes where they have lived for the past 44 years on their family land. She enjoyed living close to her family where she was able to visit often with her sister, Joyce, and cousin, Ann Toepperwein. They enjoyed countless hours together drinking coffee, swapping recipes and gardening advice, and catching up on family news. Her hobbies included cooking and baking family recipes, painting, taking care of her animals and spending numerous hours with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 27, 2014 at 10 am at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
