Debra D. Harrison

Debra D. Harrison, age 72, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt transitioned to be with our Lord on March 25, 2023. Debra was born September 16, 1950, in Akron, Ohio to James and Myrtle Jones. Debra was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Grandma from Texas.”

Debra knew our Lord early in life and was baptized at age 12 at the House of Glory Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio. Debra is a 1969 Graduate of Akron South High School. After graduation she attended nursing school but found that she had a passion for the medical administrative side of her medical career. She retired from both the Akron Children's Hospital and Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) where she received two Civilian Accommodation Medals. After retiring, she found a new passion creating and doing hair and fingernails. She would often tell Joseph “I’m saving you a lot of money.”

Debra and Joseph through marriage united a blended family 26 years ago and never looked back. Joseph often joked with Debra that after they first met as youth in Akron, it took him 30 years to finally “catch her.” Debra and Joseph were not only married, but they were “Best Friends.” Debra enjoyed fashion and jewelry and never met a piece of “Bling” that she did not like. Moreover, she loved the family and was not going to miss any special event or celebration. She and Joseph traveled the world to make sure to share and celebrate with family and friends.

Debra united with True Vine Baptist Church in 2003 and served as an Usher and worked with the once Pioneer Club Team Kids kitchen ministry.

Debra was preceded in death by her grandmother Leola G. Averiette and her parents James Jones and Myrtle Jones-Boykin.

She leaves behind her husband, Joseph Harrison Jr., aunt Gloria Gordon, uncle Isaac S. Gordon, sisters, Donna Felton (Terry Felton), Kimberly Jones Veal, brothers, Cephas Boykin, Scott Boykin, Keith Boykin sons, Ervin H Odom III (Akezia Odom), Derrick J Manley Sr (Incilay Manley) Brian S. Manley, “love children“ sons Joseph Harrison III, Jamal Everage (Ashley Everage), Jared Harrison (Emily Harrison), Javon Harrison (Tomi Blanton), daughter Sade Wong, grandchildren, Mariah A Tucker, Evian L Odom, Brooklyn Manley, Aaliyah J Manley, Derrick J Manley Jr, Noah Manley, Jaxon Manley, Zachariah Everage, Silas Everage, Jaley Everage, Kevin Everage, Liam Everage, Janea Huddleston, Julius Harrison, Gracelyn Harrison, Jay Harrison, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
