Dario Ramos Aguilar shed this mortal coil on Monday, August 3, 2015, after years of surviving a catastrophic injury that would have immediately felled a person without his indomitable will. He was what Gramsci called an organic intellectual, for his high school education, reinforced by a love for PBS, often proved more than a match for the MFAs and PhDs with whom he jokingly engaged. He could just as easily quote Hamlet as he could one of his tried and true chistes.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elodia, his father, Dario, and his brother, Anselmo. He is survived by his nephew, Mariano; former sister-in-law, Carmen; brothers, Mariano and Richard; sisters, Beatriz, Angelica, and Margie; special family friend, Irma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. to celebrate a 9:00 Mass of Resurrection at San Fernando Cathedral. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
