Cynthia Jean Ragland Cadwallader passed from the arms of her loved ones into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 27, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. Jean was a lifelong resident of San Antonio and called Rockport, Texas, her second home. An accomplished fisherwoman in the bay waters and Gulf, Jean found great peace just sitting at the water's edge.
Jean loved to travel and see new places. Whether in her beloved Texas or far off countries she seemed to find adventure, always returning from trips with wonderful stories to tell like getting lost in Central Mexico, surviving a hurricane in the British Virgin Islands, or fighting off an amorous cab driver with one stiletto heel. Well known for her beauty and her fearless sense of fashion, Jean was equally comfortable in jeans or glittery ball gowns. She added her own special touch to each outfit, maybe a straw hat tilted jauntily to one side or a feather boa wrapped around her shoulders. Always looking perfectly glamorous and elegant, every day was an opportunity to create a new ensemble and look fabulous.
As beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, Jean had compassion for others and touched the lives of everyone she met. People of all ages considered her a confidant and loyal friend. Seeing someone in need, she would do everything in her power to help. Jean spoke words of encouragement and gave hope to all. A true believer in the power of positive thinking and practicing it in all aspects of her life, Jean had a grateful heart and believed in letting people in her life know how thankful she was for them. To know her was to love her. She successfully made her world a better place.
Jean shone brightest as a mother. Patient, loving, and wise, she was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren never missing an opportunity to tell them how much they meant to her. Making every holiday and birthday special, her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. She will be profoundly missed and remain forever in our hearts.
I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith
Timothy 4:7
