Col. Louis F. Duquette (Retd.) U.S.A.F.

Colonel Louis “Duke” Duquette, born in 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah, was a proud World War II veteran who lived 95 full years as a true American. During his life, Colonel Duquette tirelessly served his country and his community.

Colonel Duquette earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah in 1939 and in 1941 he entered Army Air Corps.

Colonel Duquette served as an attorney in the Army Air Corps for many years. When the Japanese signed the Documents of Surrender of World War II,

Colonel Duquette was dispatched to Japan where he served with General Douglas MacArthur as one of the lawyers that participated in the War Trials.

Colonel Duquette served at the Pentagon from 1954 through 1958. Thereafter, he served his country as a hospital administrator at various Air Force bases, including Travis, Lackland and Ramstein Germany.

Colonel Duquette was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base when he retired in 1973.

After his retirement, Colonel Duquette was politically active in his community. He served as Chairman of the Republican Party in his district for several years and regularly traveled with other Air Band retirees. He was an avid historian and film aficionado and enjoyed 59 years with his wife Doris Duquette who predeceased him in 2002.

Colonel Duquette practiced a career and lifestyle as a person of integrity and honesty. Duke died December 3, 2011 and was ready and purposeful until the end.

Colonel Duquette is also preceded in death by his son, Freddy Duquette. Survivors include his children, Doranne Duquette, Janiel D. Bodiford & husband, Jerry and Robert Duquette & wife, Jaymie; grandchildren, Jaime and Julie Bodiford, and Samantha & Jason Duquette; and sister-in-law, Sue Cassell. Graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 with full Air Force honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Chaplain Col. Paul L. Cannon officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Duquette and Jordan Johnston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the air Force Village, 4917 Ravenswood Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78227.
