In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and it is with sadness that I didn't find out in time to attend his service. He had a huge and lasting impact on me as my first boss when I began my career in 1979. I was in awe of both the status he had achieved and the work it must have taken to get there. However, he didn't seem consumed by any of that and was very down to earth, funny, and kind at work. I was a young, impressionable, and often misguided 19 year old when assigned to his office. Not only was he my boss, but as a friend he took the time to counsel and give me guidance on personal matters. I will be forever grateful for having Col. Ward as both supervisor, friend and mentor. He left a lasting impression on me because as I reflect back over my 30 year career, I can honestly say he has remained my personal favorite, the most memorable, and best boss/friend I ever had the privilege of being able to serve with.

Thank you Rosemary for sharing your thoughts and memories about each of those photos of your Dad!  We are both blessed to have such great men in our lives as our Dads.

To Mary Ruth, Michael, and Rosemary:

I am grief stricken after learning of my brother's (Big) death.  He was such a good family man and an excellent brother to his four sisters.  He shared a special bond with his nieces Wanda Collins, Shelia Ward, Portia Ward, and Barbara Ann Ward.  Big has always shown my family kindness with the utmost respect and dignity.  I never heard Big speak an unkind word to anyone.  My children (Angelia Durden, Wanda Quezada, George Durden, II, and Brittney Quezada) are privileged to have known him.  Both he and his twin brother Little had a major impact on the lives and career paths of my son and grand daughter.  Rosemary and Michael, you are truly blessed to have had Big as your father.  Big and Mary Ruth always made us feel welcomed in their home.  I never wanted to leave when I visited.  I will miss his visits to Houston too.  Over time I hope that the beautiful memories that he created and the genuine compassion he showed others will provide comfort to you in the coming months.  Michael and Rosemary, I am always on your side.  I will forever miss my brother but I know he is in the loving arms of God.
