Colonel Clarence Douglas Ward, U.S.A.F. (Ret.), 85, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on June 17,2015. He was born in Conroe (Montgomery), TX, on March 16,1930, to Tommie and Angie Ward. Col. Ward graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Houston and received his law degree from the Texas Southern University School of Law. He was married to Mary R. Dupont on August 22, 1953. Col. Ward worked as a Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force for twenty-seven years. His Air Force honors included the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Air Force Retired Judge Advocates Association and had a passion for gardening and learning about World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ward, his son, Michael Ward, his daughter, Rosemary Ward and his sisters, Barbara Fay Wilrich, Rachel Brewer, Dora Durden and Betty Dawson.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, July 5th and funeral services will be held Monday, July 6th, 12:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio, TX 78218.
