Cheryl Faye Grell Wilcut was born on July 3, 1949, to Marvin and Lillian Grell in San Antonio, Texas. She passed away in San Antonio, Texas on September 29, 2022 after a long battle with Sjogren’s Disease and other health complications. Cheryl grew up in Hondo, Texas. She began working for the FBI after high school, where she stayed for many years. She eventually went to work for the Federal Probation Office, and retired from there prior to helping with their business, Wilcut Construction.
Cheryl met her beloved husband Ronald Everett Wilcut at Randy’s Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas in 1970. They were married in 1971 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2021. Cheryl enjoyed playing pitch and dominoes, loved being around her grandchildren, and loved sitting on the patio listening to the birds on the family property in Hondo, Texas.
To know Cheryl, was to love her. She was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle person. She was a woman of strength who endured lots of pain and physical challenges the last few years, but she always found the positive in everything and never complained. She was an amazing wife, mother, Grammy, sister, aunt, and friend.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie and her father and mother. She passed away one year and a day after her husband, Ronnie. Cheryl is survived by her daughters Michelle McCoy and husband Chris, Denise Worrell and husband Cory; grandchildren Gavin, Lauren, and Camryn McCoy, and Audrey and Cash Worrell; brother Larry Grell and sister Lana Dudley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life on October 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North, followed by a graveside ceremony at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels, Texas. Pastor Jennifer Gold will officiate.
