Charles A. Moerner, also known as “Chuck”, “Chalky”, and “Pa” went to a better world on July 10, 2015 at the age of eighty five years. Charles left behind his wife, Anne, seven children, nineteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Charles Belonged to Helotes Hills United Methodist Church where he was a choir member for many years. He loved music and taught himself to play the piano, guitar, and saxophone. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Abou Saad Temple, formerly of Panama. Charles loved to fish, enjoyed landscaping, and collected and restored antique cars. He received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Trinity University in 1953. Charles retired from Kelly Air Force Base in 1979 and during his career he served 18 months in Korea, 3 years in Vietnam, and 3 years in Panama.
His motto was “If anyone else can do it, I can do it.” This was demonstrated as Charles did all of the restorations of his antique cars, landscapes, and remodeled different homes he and his wife owned and built a complete home doing most of the work himself. Charles will be lovingly missed and always remembered by his wife and family members as a man of character, integrity, and strength. Kind and gentle, he was a true man of God who never had to announce his Christianity but simply lived it. He lives on in the lives of those he loved so deeply and those who loved him equally in return.
