Charles Grimes, age 70, decided to walk in the beautiful gardens in Heaven after a long battle with lung cancer. Charles is survivied by his loving wife, Edith Grimes, three children; Ronald, Rodney (Mae) and Randy. Born to Maggie and Robert Grimes, Charles was born in Selma, Alabama in 1939. He also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren, James, Khadijah and Khaylah and one sister, Myrtle Towner of Montevallo, Alabama. Three siblings preceded him in death, Helen Grimes Burton, Jessie Grimes and Ida Grimes Blocton. Charles leaves a host of precious nieces and nephews who treasured him as a father, mentor and friend.

Charles cherished his lovely wife Edith. Over forty years of marriage, she was his confident and best friend. He believed that through all things love, friendship and respect made for a lasting relationship. Charles adorned his there sons, Ronald, Rodney and Randy.
Charles-Enjoying His Passion of Medicine
Charles is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served for 12 years and retired from Audie Murphy Hospital after 35 years of dedicated service. His passion was knowledge and a quest to learn. An avid reader, his passion to learn was bigger than life itself. His relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was his first love. His second love was his family and friends, although pharmacy played a major part in his life, he had a greater love for education and learning. Charles worked for the Audie Murphy Veteran Hospital for 35 years. He was instrumental in mentoring new pharmacist and providing training on pharmaceutical procedures.
His success in pharmacy can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his natural learning ability. His attention to detail was legendary. He took pride in the fact that he always left his patients satisfied.

Charles was an avid reader and enjoyed adventure. As a small boy, Charles was always curious about health and medicine. That curiosity and quest to learn would ultimately gain the attention of his Catholic School. He was valedictorian and class president of his high school class, which helped his secure a scholarship to Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Xavier School of Pharmacy in 1964.
The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force never left him, as friends and family will attest.
